About the Author

Hi, I am Isalune Merovik, the cook and writer behind Kepoli. I am not a chef, and I have never worked in a professional kitchen. I am a home cook, which I have come to think is exactly the right qualification for writing the kind of recipes I share here: food that fits into a normal week, made with the tools and time most of us actually have.

My cooking started the way it does for a lot of people, out of necessity and a little curiosity. Over the years, curiosity won. I learned by making the same dishes over and over, paying attention to what changed the outcome, and slowly figuring out why some things worked and others did not. That habit of noticing is what I try to pass along in every recipe and guide on this site.

I write Kepoli because I love the moment a recipe finally clicks, when it stops being a set of instructions and becomes something you can make without thinking. My goal is to get you to that moment faster. I test the recipes I publish in my own kitchen, I explain the small decisions that make a difference, and I try to be honest about what to expect, including the parts that take practice.

When I am not cooking or writing, I am usually reading about food, wandering a market with no particular plan, or feeding whoever happens to be around. I believe good food does not have to be complicated, and that the best meals are often the simple ones made with a little care.

I would genuinely love to hear from you, whether you have a question, made one of my recipes, or just want to say hello. You can reach me anytime at isalunemerovik@gmail.com.
